The most common reason of an applicant’s failure in an interview is going through the interview unprepared. Preparing yourself thoroughly is your best weapon when attending a job interview. These are some tips that you may follow to get a successful interview:
Plan out.
Prepare yourself. Try researching your prospective employer’s site and try to learn about the company as much as you can before attending the interview, this may tend to give you an edge over other applicants. Prepare supplementary statements when your work experiences get any inquiry in the interview, where your objective is to give them the proper information that would fit you in to the company based on what they really need.
Rehearsal.
Before going to interview, you now start on your rehearsals. List down all the possible questions that may come out or be asked in the interview, like the old “Tell me about yourself” question. After listing all of them, you can now start listing down the corresponding answers to these questions, so you would know what to answer the interviewing officer when the questions are asked.
First impression lasts.
You can make good use of the first impression you may give your prospective employer, you may not have the chance to change it once he gets it wrong or take it bad.
Be on time.
Put a good amount of time allowance on coming to the venue in addition to the time of how long the time you can get there.
Think positive.
When giving out details about your service records, avoid criticizing your past employers. You might want to concentrate on emphasizing positive accomplishments and goals. Less talking could give you less risk of spilling unnecessary information that may not help you with your chances.
Express interest.
Be vocal on telling the interviewer that you are in that company of his/her. Show your interest.
Adapt to your surroundings
Be sensitive to your interviewer(s). Try to relate your answers to him and to the company itself. Concentrate on stressing out the accomplishments you made related only to the position you apply for. Be specific. Be expressive on counting off your particular achievements you’ve made before.
Honesty.
There can be of no use for lying when it comes to your skills, knowledge or experience. Even if you can get away with it, your chances of getting caught is very great. Employers find employees that matches their needs. Therefore, if you don’t have what they need, then the job isn’t going to be yours, even if you had it for a while.
Never say die.
When you perfectly fit for a job that doesn’t mean that you can automatically get that job. You’ve got to face the fact that this is not always get the job that fits your skills. But this shouldn’t be the end of your search. Feedbacks from the interviewers that turned you down could be very useful for improving your current results. In this way, you would know what are your weakness and how to strengthen them. You can ask for a feedback from your interviewer. But never give up, once turned down, there is a job when there is a job hunter.
